this is my why...

I have thought a long time about why I have become a photographer and it has come to this - I love taking pictures. I love capturing moments of people’s lives, capturing emotion, feeling, and the purity that it all represents. I love the stories pictures tell, the history they create and the memories that they give.

I have worked in the fashion industry as a model for the last ten years living and working in Europe, Asia, Africa, India and North America. The reason I mention this is because modeling has taught me a few things about how great pictures are captured. It’s all about feeling. I have worked in many countries where language was a barrier and yet a beautiful image said more than any words could. It has been mentioned over and over that perhaps one of my greatest strengths as a photographer is an ability to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera and my greatest fulfillment is seeing that ‘feeling’ in the image. I have also been given the ability to anticipate genuine moments for the camera and capture them. I love working with people and find that because of my experience in front of the camera I can lead people into moments that they might not necessarily know are coming.

I have always respected the photo-journalistic approach to photography, and aspire to focus my style in this way. I love to capture images as they happen in the moment that we have. To me photography is something that has no boundaries and endless possibilities. Whatever the job, whatever the assignment, capturing the image in the moment, I am happy to say is my life’s work and joy.
